So should I get a brushed or brushless electronic speed controller and what brand...

castle mamba max pro. does brushed, brushless, sensored brushless, and up to 6s lipo! all for just around $100 Get the one with the fan if you plan on crawling slow. Brushless motors get hot going slow.

Holmes new ESC is also another option. It does every thing the MMP does and a little more. It does not have a fan, but, you can change the switching frequency which in turn will keep the temps in check on both the motor and esc.

You can't go wrong with either the MMP or the new Holmes ESC.
