Smile New to the hobby

Hi all, I am Fernando (I'm from Colombia but I live in Bothell). I recently got into r/c, I built scale models for 15 or so years but stopped a while ago. Decided to switch gears and recently got a TRX-4 Defender from Galaxy Hobby in Lynnwood. So far it's been a blast and my son (9) is really into it and apparently a natural when it comes to crawling. I recently took it to Meadowdale Beach Park and went all the way to the beach and back with a single 6000 mAh 2S Lipo. Looking to meet other folks locally and keep getting out there.

Some things I've done to the Defender so far:
- Added brass portal covers (93g each) and some lead shot into the front and back bumper, also added some weight under the battery.
- Drilled some holes into the roof rack front panel to make it more interesting (and marginally lighter).
- Wired a light kit from eBay (not the Traxxas one).
- Added the limb risers
- Made a storage container from a craft organizing box, and the tie downs from the a turntable belt (I also collect vinyl records), paper clips and 95 paracord.
- Used some spare decals from my modeling days to the windows, even found a good one to use as nickname for the truck, Ground Pounder.
- Designed a custom WA plate and added it to the front and back.
- Made a mock winch cable and a towing clasp.

Left to add:
- Sand ladders
- Second storage box
- Magnet body mounts (priority #1)

Some wading at Meadowdale:

Hey that's cool! I heard a lot about Meadowdale Park and I've been meaning to head out there myself.
